Hey guys. It's been a while since a journal has been posted, but anyway, here's the info.
A remastered version of Sonic 1 made by Taxman and Stealth was just released for iOS and Android (not on consoles, unfortunately), with updates like widescreen, time attack, and Tails and Knuckles. You'll have to beat the game to unlock Tails, and you'll have to collect all the Chaos Emeralds in order to unlock Knuckles. You can find the links to where to download the games in Sega's blog in the link below. If you already have it for iOS, then it would be a free update.

Taxman and Stealth are members of SonicRetro, where people often gather to make fangames and fanhacks of classic game Here is some information about them if you'd like to see some of what they've done in the past.

Christian Whitehead (aka Taxman) is the same person responsible for remaking Sonic CD back in 2011. Now he's been working alongside Simon Thomley (aka Stealth) to make the Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 remakes. Whether they will also remaster S3&K currently remains unknown, however the idea of a remake being made for that game has been appearing to be met with enthusiasm, and even allowing them to make an original Sonic game. For now, we'll just have to wait.
The title for the next Sonic game has also been announced, and is called "Sonic Lost World", however I don't have any further information except this blog with a screenshot here. [link]
What has sparked outrage is that Sega has entered an exclusive partnership with Nintendo, and the next three Sonic games are supposed to be exclusive to Nintendo systems. [link] Given how the Wii U has been currently criticized for aspects such as poor sales performance and a lacking game library, it's not that surprising that there would be controversy toward such actions. The criticisms mentioned above along with lack of 3rd Party support, like EA abandoning support of the Wii U, have made consumers reluctant to buy a Wii U, and the idea of having to buy a new console just to play the next few Sonic games have put people in a difficult position.
Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. If there's any more info about this game that may involve Knuckles, I'll try to keep you all posted. Take care everybody.
